Dr. John Heil is a licensed clinical psychologist and sport psychologist (Certified Mental Performance Consultant-Emeritus) at Psychological Health Roanoke, completing fellowship training in Pain and Behavioral Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Heil is a Fellow in American Psychological Association and the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. He is the author of the Psychology of Sport Injury and other works on pain and injury management, as well as publisher of multimedia products on mindfulness and mental training. Dr. Heil is a Lecturer at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, a consultant to the Carilion Clinic Medical Rehabilitation unit, and an Instructor at the Roanoke Police Academy. He is former President of the American Psychological Association Society for Sport, Exercise & Performance Psychology. Dr. Heil is a member of the Board of Directors of Virginia Amateur Sports and the International Swim Coaches Association.
